If learning the bass clef is your problem, I`d suggest you start by learning one note at a time, look at it 4 or 5 times until you know it without having to think what it is. Then each day add the note next to it and do the same thing. Sounds slow but it will work if you stick to it.

Get yourself a good beginning book - Weissenborn`s Practical Method for the Bassoon is a good one. They start you out very slowly and you will find if you do the exercises carefully you will learn the basics. For a fingering chart, google "bassoon fingering chart" and you will see several.

Good luck!

I`d recommend Weissenborn too. Also try using flashcards with a note on each one. You can buy `Chester`s` flashcards (little green packet) or make them yourself.

Heath, where did you find those flashcards? I`d like to find some for tenor clef.

Sorry for delay. The flashcards are in most music shops but here is an online link: http://www.musicroom.com/se/ID_No/09319/details.html

They don`t do tenor clef though. For tenor maybe try "tenor clef made easy" book but I can`t recommend because I haven`t used it myself. I used the Weissenborn Bassoon Studies Vol 1 to learn the tenor clef. There is only one page of teaching it so it`s quite sudden but if you`re motivated it works. It worked for me! :-)
