Sorry I don't know much about Fox bassoons. Are you calling it a Model I? You can google Fox bassoons and get all sorts of sites where they sell them, etc., and kind of get some idea where this model fits in their price ranges.

I learnt on a fox model...... dunno, but it was plastic. and black...... anyway, it was a good bassoon with a nice tone. HOWEVER, being plastic its tone Quality was noowhere near that of a wooden bassoon. So through my powers of deduction, i would say that a wooden fox would be a very nice bassoon.

Fox's are great student brands. If you are willing to spend more money, go for a wooden one, but if you would just like a reliable bassoon with good tone, I have a plastic Fox Renard, and it works very well.

i paid 3000 for my model 40 fox renard bassoon on ebay. I have been using that for the Newark-Granville Youth Symphony and it works great. so if you are going to get any bassoon i would get the 40 renard (it is a advertised student bassoon) the price for a 40 renard is $5995 but i see them on ebay for 2500-3500.check with the past sales with the seller before buying. good luck finding a good bassoon
