I just bought a trumpet and I`m having trouble blowing correctly. Could anyone give me detailed instructions on how to do it? Any help would be appreciated.

O.K. it`s hard to explain,

Do not blow like you would blow up a balloon.

Blow with your tongue kicking, like kinda spit in to the trumpet and blow.

Don`t worry about spitting in to the trumpet that`s why you have spit valves.

its actually quite simple because all you have to do is blow and vibrate your lip. or push a hard stram of air through your mouthpies while saying like a "t" sound

I think it`s easier to start just with your mouthpiece and when it`s good enough,try it then with your trumpet.

I too am having problems blowing...I`ve been playing the french horn for 7 years but was asked to play trumpet in a wedding, and I can`t seem to be able to play a clear note with no airy sound as well. I`ve got the mouthpiece half and half, think I`m buzzing right, but no matter if I play high or low there is always that airy stream under the note. Please help!

If it`s an constellation, try a breathing tube that will develop some proper airflow. Bell`s Super Lube can make a special ordered breathing tube, to 3 different resistance`s I`ve got all 3, the 3rd is quite the workout! Mostly for lead stuff. Check it out! www.bellssuperlube.com

it might be impossible to learn properly just by reading about it, you may want to talk to a local trumpet teacher, even one lesson may get you on the right track.
