Oh, you have lots of time to get ready.
Nothing will be as good as regular practicing and working on all your techniques.

For something specific like this I recommend doing your regular practicing and then do this . . . . . .

Once in the morning before you run off to school play through the passages or pieces you are going to be playing. Do not stop and practice any mistakes you might make, just play straight through the piece(s) once only. Then go off to school and do what you do throughout the day.

When you get home sometime before you go to bed, take out your music and again play through it one time only. Again, do not stop and replay anything, do not try and practice the piece, just play through it.

Now, when you do practice, you may work on one two measure section of the piece, but only one 2 measure section. And of course you play it as many times as your director tells you in rehearsal.

So do your regular practice schedule. AND play the pieces once through in the morning and once through at night.

John

Don't press the mouthpiece too hard on your lips, and don't "smile" back on it.

You will gain more endurance the more you play. The more you play the piece, the better it will be of course...by the time of the concert you should have more endurance and be able to play it depending on how much you work. Just practice the right things. You should also get lessons if you dont have them...they help immensely! Its a necessity basically.

It comes will A LOT of practice. thats all
