I believe it means "gold/heavy".

The G stands for Gold Brass Bell. It is not Gold but "gold brass" which is a brass that has more copper in its make up than your typical brass. The gold brass results in a more complex tone. The H stands for heavy. The bell is heavier and many players believe this heaviness will help projection.
