I have been playing the trumpet and cornet since I was 6. But I`ve never been able to play really high or really low notes. It hurts around my uvula. When I try, I adjust my throat as if I was going to sing a high or low note. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? anyway any advice is appreciated. Bye!

You adjust your throat? I can`t tell you about that, but what mouthpiece have you?

What are the litttle numbers/letters on the side of the mouthpiece? For example, it might be a 7C.

don`t switch mouthpieces. i have talked to maynard furgeson about. my school jazz band opens for him every year in may. he said that your lips have to adjust to one mouthpiece and that you`ll make ur lips weak if u keep switching. maynard is 78 and started playing when he was 9. he`s a pro and he holds a lot of records. don`t switch

adjust you`re mouth positions and support more from the diaphram when hitting extreme notes.
i do this and i have the best range around. and my band isn`t bad. we won 1st place in jazz competition last year in nationals at orlando
