Firstly, I`m sorry if I sound strange in any of this description. I don`t play trumpet, but my friend does and she needs your help!

She has recently started to play piccolo trumpet, and for some reason, she took the 4 valves out. Now, she`s replaced the valves but she has no idea which order they go in and she`s dumbfounded!

Is there anyway of telling which order the valves go in or is it just a case of trial and error?

We all do that at some point in time, I think. There should be numbers on the valves that show which one is which. They`re small and engraved... I`m not sure if they go in descending or ascending order, but you can figure that out.

Also, the numbers should either all face away from the player or all face toward the player when in the proper casings so they`re in the right position. Does that make any sense to you?

4 x 4 x 4 x 4 = make the calcul and you`ve got the possibilities... now if you don`t have the number on the valve.... have fun! (trumpet only have 27 possibilities). If you have the number... the number one is the closest from you in a play point of view!

When you put the valve in, turn it around a bit. If it`s in the right spot, it should click into place. I don`t know if this works for other people, but it`s always worked for me.

That is true, but everyvalve, will fit every valve case and make that click...I think his problem isn`t that the are not in the exact spot in the case, but they aren,t in the good order.

Oh, well then mine is different, cuz my valves only click when in the right slot.
