All clarinet music can be played on bass clarinet too =]
Although when I was playing for an orchestra this summer, they put my name under clarinets and put (bass) beside my name. I really find that stupid, because the saxes each get there own section, why can't I?
true true... but only one flute? in beginning band we had like 30... we had 56 clarinets in the beginning, then about 4 or 5 switched to sax(u have to start on clarinet to play saxophone at our school)
This year we had 20+ flutes and 20+ clarinet. We only had about 3 good clarinets, and all of them are leaving next year, so I'm switching to clarinet for band. I know that my school has an alto clari, perhaps Ill be able to play that if my band director wants =) Although I dont think we have a contra bass clarinet! I wish we did though I'd play that for sure! Of course, theres no way I'd walk my 3km to school with it xD.
As for unique instruments, we had 1 bari sax, 1 bass clari, 1 french horn 1 oboe no bassonists and 3 baritones.
Yeah... our 6GB last year had 7 flutes, 6 trombones, 6 trumpets, 5 percussionists, 1 tubist, 1 baritone, 1 oboe, 1 base clarinet, and 36 clarinets. I think about 10 are quitting this year, though.
