i currently play the Euphonium in my schools concert band, but i have become interested in playing trombone in order to join our jazz ensemble..now i wont have to start playing the band until school starts up next fall if i start in the next week or 2 do you think i will be comfortible with the instrument by then..im going to be a junior btw and i would consider myself an average Euphonium player
also sorry to double post, but i am going to need a trombone to play...i could go the rental route and get a begginer trombone..or a Getzen 725 has been recomend as a good value horn for a person in my position...what are your opinions
my advise would be that if you are really interested in playing trombone to join the jazz band then go for it. Jazz is a great and fun type of music and trombone is a fun instrument to play . you would be able to get a good sound out of the trombone due to your past experience with eupho. but the only trouble that i can think of is getting the slide positions correct. but if u have been playin music for a long time you should be able to get a trombones ear and will be able to hear the always changing trombone sound and move the slide to fix it. dont know if i helped or what but hope i did. if u stick down hard to it for the week or 2 then you should be able to get a rough idea on the slide positions. good luck and welcome to the trombone army .
yeah im sure you will do fine. and i make a suggestion to you that the big band your joining should play boogie down... its a pretty easy piece but with the correct dynamics it can sound liek the best song ever! its a real fun piece to play and you should look into it .
