I just realised that I was playing for all the wrong reasons
I was playing because I wanted to be beter than everybody else
if I didnt play my part perfect I would get mad. now
I play for the fun of it and if I dont get my part perfect it
gives me something to work on the next day now I dont
want to be the best I just want to learn how to get better
do you really have to ask that question??????? Trombones are awesome!!!!!!! We almost the command an orchestra floor. *cough "trumpets".....stabs them with spork * :D We special, and you should know that. * shakes head *
It's such a versatile instrument! It does jazz, and is also a good classical instrument! So why do I play? There's just something about making your own music, and making music with others.

*Oops. Sorry about the 1's after "TROMBONES ARE AWESOME!!!!!" I let go of the shift key too soon.*
Because, like most musicians, it mirrors my own personality.
Loudmouth, obnoxious, offensive, sometimes down-right rude, and more than anything, blunt and in-your-face.
Just kidding. Really, I don’t remember why I picked it in the first place. Probably something about the slide sounding neat and it being so different in general back when I was little.
I stuck with it because I love that feeling of that much power in my hands.
Because I love it, and I wouldn't see myself stopping playing trombone.
The reason I picked trombone first I that a few years before starting playing music, I went to my sister's concert and they played Lassus Trombone (with their trombone players in the balcony).

Sorry typo :
*The reason I picked trombone at first is that.......*
my story is probably not like your alls, I originally wanted to play french horn, still do sort of. But my band director wouldn't let me, we had to trombones what so ever, so no matter what i wanted to play he would say no.
Well, 3 years later and many many accomplishments later, I'm thankful, haha.
With trombone, unlike the other instruments (this is my own opinion) there are more challenges, instead of find a fingering for a particular note or a fingering and embrochure, you must find not only the correct embrochure, but the tuning of the note, (in fast passages) the way your arm is going, and so many many more things. Its a challenge to me every time i pick up the horn just because it has to be a humanly perfect as my abilities will allow me to make it. Its just really challenging to master throughout life
Well, for me there are a couple reasons why I choose it.
For one when I was choosing, the trombone and the drums were the only instruments I could actually physically play, because I'm missing my pointer and middle finger on my right hand. And my friend plays the trombone so, thats why.
And also like my instructor, truly think that it has many advantages over the other instruments, like the amazing range (from my understanding the trombone has a four octave range). Also the overtones sound amazing! The instrument never squeaks like a trumpet, even up two octaves. And the fact that its just a down right cool instrument! We actually have to do a lot of work like tuning while playing, and not just pressing buttons.
But even so I would definitely like to learn trumpet one day.
I was asked to play trombone by my HS band director right before my sophomore year in high school. We had very week trombones and just needed one good one to keep 'em together. So my last three years in high school I played euphonium on the marches and trombone on everything else for contest.
I still was able to get 1st chair all region my junior and senior year despite all the time I had to spend OFF my euphonium.
Now I make a little money playing trombone and will be going back into the studio with the tejano band I play with (a far cry from all the big band gigs I played when I lived in San Antonio, TX).
i was the wierd one in my band when picking out intruments. most peole in my begining band class didn't know what they where doing(like most peopl i guess)but i new all about the trombone befor i ever picked it up. i was living in itlay at the time(my dad was in the military). my family and i whent to rome and saw the london synphony orcestra there. they played mahler's third synphony(if you've never heard it you need to). anyways the trombone players just blew me away. thier beautifull characteristic resignating sounds just melted my heart away. i knew sence then on i would play trombone.
