I heard you can clean your trombone by completely submerging it in a bath. Exactly How do I go about doing this?

If you really want to, you can use a bathtub, but I think it`s just way too much work and not quite as useful as just washing it. But I have heard of people doing that... in the bathtub.

I don`t think there`s any way to take the spit valve off, but it can ruin the cork if you`re not careful.

giving your horn a bath is something EVERYONE should do at least once a month.

What you do is you take apart all the parts you can(leave the spit valve alone) and you submerge it in semi warm water. once you submerge it you take a snake and go through the entire horn until its clean. then dry off. Dont worry about your spit valve all too much, because most horn have rubber corks now(if you still have a cork next time you go to your tech get a rubber one on). Just remember that the more crud you have in your mouth before you play the crud you are going to have when snaking them.

Rubber spit valve corks are better all around, I think. They last longer, and they are just as easy to put on, and they are cheap. So don`t worry about ruining your cork, spend a couple bucks, if that, and have rubber installed.
