:D I went last monday to my first lesson (1h 20minutes). My teacher told me how to hold de bow and the violin and it seems that I did it pretty well because then she told me to make some experiments. She made me play all four strings open, focusing on the bow angle with the strings and then, suddenly I was playing the D scale with to strings :D I can read music but just a little but she gave me 6 exercises and I have practised 1 hour every day. Tomorrow I will be having my second class and I'm so excited. I have many questions like why my D string sound terribly bad :D (like killing a cat), or wich strings should I buy (the ones = have are crap, a $7 lot).
Well, just wanted to share my experience :D
See you!!

I'm sure you will sound better over time Glad you had a great lesson!!

I buy Dominant Strings. They are a bit more expensive, but they are good

Congrats on a brilliant first lesson. May you have many more and few hardships. As for good strings, dominant is a good brand, but I heard of another brand with a nice sound quality at a low price. Look for them at www.sharmusic.com I think its better to shop for violin stuff online since you can always find good deals.
