Can anyone help me stop my bow from bouncing when I draw it across the strings? It starts smooth and then begins to bounce.

don't keep your little finger straight. Keep it bent, that way it absorbs the shock and doesn't bounce so much. Trust me, I have the same problem, except Im having a hard time correcting my bad habit .

Me too, I had that problem when first beginning, and what helped me was just to concentrate on firmly holding the bow and drawing it smoothly across the strings, and having control. Pretty soon your muscles will adjust to it.

Try having your elbow a little higher than normal so you can put more weight on the bow, and don't forget to pivot so you have an even amount of pressure on the bow all the way through.

I had the bouncy bow too! just play through it as my teacher said. push down a little harder with the the first finger on your bow hand, not to hard, and raising or even dropping your elbow the tiniest bit will also help. it's just that the pressure of the bow on the strings is changing as the others said, and their advice is very good too. try and correct it earlier rather then later thought, trust me i spent a year correcting my technique, and one song gets very boring after a while!
