Dear All,
My parents have kept a violin in their loft for many years and have now decided to part with it. I've had a look inside the violin, and can see the following marks:
There is a mark stamped on the inside of the body of the violin that has "GEGRUNDET 1802" over the top of what looks like a cross symbol, and some printing around it that looks like "SCLUT MARKE (unsure spelling, too small).
There is another mark that reads "GEGRUNDET 1802" and below it is the cross symbol, with 'IMPERIAL' printed below this.
There is a main paper label that reads:
"COPY OF AMATI"
"Manufactured in Saxony by" what looks like "C.F. Seluishrholn"; or it could be "C.F. Leluis???holn".
Can anyone help me identify this violin, and indicate when it could have been made? The violin is structurally sound. What sort of price might this unit bring?
Many Thanks
Jamie Kershaw

Hi,
It's hard to appraise an instrument sight unseen. Here are some options- 1) Bring it into a Violin Shop for Appraisal. Check their fee first. 2) Ask a few accomplished violinists & string orchestra teachers to play this violin & ask for their opinions.
Hope this helps.
