Hello everyone,

This is pretty random but I would love to share with all of you a huge change in the career path in which I am going for now. I had one more year left of studying my Post grad in Education, but decided over the weekend that it's not what I want to do at this point in time. I then rang up my violin teacher and said to her something along the lines of, ' I know I have only been playing for around two years, but I would love to create the possibility of me being a professional Violinist in 4-5 years. What is your take on this?? She then said, "yes I believe you can, if you work really hard." OK lets get started!!

This point I want all of you to get is that you are never too old to go for what you want to go for; life is amazing, you can create any possibility you want to create, all you need to do is do the work required to create the possibility and you're set!!! I'm 24 years old and what was stopping me before was the other people in my life saying that "I'm too old" and "You need money" etc.


Create your life!! Don't let it create you! =o)

I am a 54 year old that started playing violin at 43 years old. If I can anyone can!!!

I only play for my own enjoyment. But that is all I ever hoped for . I am a lover of Violins!!! I like to work on them more than I like playing. I repair old violins and set-up and sell new ones. I wanted to learn to play so I could try out the violins I was working on. In Just 6 months I was playing the violin in church.( My teacher pushed me to do that.)
Like you, people said I could never do it.
I know of a 65 year old man that did the same thing I did. ( You are never to old!!!)

Sorry if this bores people but I'd like to tell you my story ^_^

I'm 16 and here I was, sitting in my room studying Japanese. This will be my third year studying japanese and I've pretty much set my life around translating and interpreting and what not. I started the violin when I was in year 5 so that was... 6 years ago.. I played until I got to high school, then sadly I quit.
Yesterday, I found a new violin teacher because I realized I actually love the violin. And I really, really want to do it as a career when I get older but I felt (which is quite pathetic after hearing this) that I was too old to actually pursue violin, because you see people my age playing concertos at the opera house. >_> But I'd just like to say thankyou because after reading this I realize that I'm not too old to start it, infact I'm still young. So, Thankyou and now I'll definitely think long and hard about going to a music university to study the Violin.

Wow that is absobutely fantastic I am very happy for you also!!! Of course you are not too old hehe (which you now obviously know!!!) You are never to old to do anything as long as you set your mind to it!!! =o) I'd love to be updated on your progress! =o)

My violin is going great, I love it so much! :D My teacher is super nice which is an added bonus. But it's hard to get out of old habits, my old teacher taught me the number system and little things on my violin to show me where to put my fingers but my new teacher is getting me to sight read (which I can do anyway) but my mind keeps clicking over to the old number system in my head which is so annoying because I get screwed up in the sharp / flat notes. D: But I love the way my teacher teaches me where to put my fingers, she doesn't put on lines where my fingers go instead she plays the piano when I'm either sharp or flat and I have to correct it using my ear which in my opinion is the best because I my pitch is horrible at the moment and I hope that this improves it, which I think it will. Enough about me, how's things for you going? Still going with violin?
