It's a sad world we live in if 12 year olds think that there is a deadline on when you can learn something, especially a musical instrument (i'm sure there are plenty of young people that don't share that opinion though). The other thing that is disturbing is what constitutes a "professional" musician there are people out there paying their bill playing music even though they may not be the best musicians technicly. It's all relative and most of all if you want to learn how to play, pick up an instrument, find a teacher or book and get to it.
