I love my cello so much -- all I want to do is practice. 2 or 3 hours a day. Does everyone else practice this much?

Yes, only that would make you an outstanding cellist in a year time! Trust me, there`s nothing else you`d do but to practice in order to see the results of your hard work.

I practiced 1hr on scales which I had to before practicing any other things else. My teacher told me that it`s to train for a better accuracy. Then I`ll practice another hr for exercise pieces before practicing Bach Suites or concerto.

And more often that not, I practiced a min of 3hrs and sometimes, only twice if I didn`t rem wrongly, I practiced 5hrs! Wow... kinda stunned... perhaps too bored at home (it was my school holiday)

Work hard together k?

Take care

I love practicing. I work alot on scales and shifting. My teacher is great. He always assigns exercises that are very helpful. He`s also very good at explaining everything at the lessons. That`s why I always want to practice ... because I know that it`s all good stuff that will help me learn to play better. Also the stuff my teacher gives me is hard, but it`s never so hard that I go all crazy and have to struggle over it.

Re: How much do you practice?

-In the past atleast 3-4 hours once or twice 6hrs or more(parents came home late that day), currently not at all, LOL. Thats because of all the boring pieces of music I have that I`ve already played too much, I`m not saying they were easy either.

-It`s good sometimes to try to play or atleast study a piece of music that looks like it was written in japanese (heh! ,in other words its hard and you don`t know what a lot of the symbols mean, the type of music professionals play) so easier pieces of music don`t seem so hard, as strange as that might sound. With the help of your teacher of course . That type of thinking has made me a much better cello player.
