Hey all. I am a fifteen year-old cellist. I have been taking lessons since I was about 11, but I don`t really seem to be `getting` it. I can sight-read pretty well, but I can`t look at a note and tell you the name without compairing it to a note I do know, and then counting from there. Does anyone have any advice on how I can learn how to really read music?

Also, I have a problem doing vibrato with my first finger in first position. In the second, third, and fourth positions it`s fine, but I can`t really do it in first position. Once again, any tips?

Well, that`s about it. Thanks for reading! E-mail me if you have any really important tips.

Sincerely,
Micah.

hi Micha. im not sure i know a way to help u with your note problem except to just keep practicing.

I can though, probably help u with ur vibrato problem. my tip is agains the rules of cello playing, but it seems to help me. Put the flat of your finger on the string instead of the tip.

Another tip is what u should always do. shake ur entire arm not just ur wrist while you vibrato.

that`s all i got. good luck. (email me back to tell me how it goes.)
