Hi, I`m a composer, and I`ve been trying to write a piece for piano and cello. The problem is... I don`t play cello! I`m wondering if there are any rules about the chord progressions one uses when writing for cello. Are certain things impossible to do, or very very hard? For instance - http://tinypic.com/dnbuc5.jpg

Is it possible to play this?

Thanks.

All of those you listed are possible but a few are a bit of a stretch. You would probably get a better sound if you had two cellos one playing the top notes and the other playing the bottom.

I`ve been playing for about 4 years and your progressions seem just fine. Nothing seems out of reach, it was smart to make octives playable on the open strings and all so hope to hear or see your work when it`s finished.
Good luck,
Chris
