I've been playing cello for more than a decade, I'm thinking about getting an electric cello. The main competitors are NS-CR5 and CR6 (mainly because yamaha have gotten a lot of bad criticism for their sound in some forums). In acoustic cellos 6-stringed as far as I understand do not offer the same dynamic range because you can't sink the bow into the strings as hard without touching the other strings, but in a foot note at cello haven somebody wrote that "You'll never be able to get a decent dynamic range on a 6 string acoustic because you cant sink in with the bow the way you can with a 4 or 5 string. Electric is not as much of a problem."

Is the string proximity to each other a problem in 6-string electric cellos too, should I go for the 5-string version instead?

Has anyone tried the NS-design 5- or 6-strin cellos?

Sincerely yours.
