I play electric bass in my pep band (when it`s in season) and we play a rather standard marching band arrangement of it. I never had sheet music to it but instead learned the bass/tuba part by ear. It`s a simple line anyway. I vi ii V7, then something like vi III V I. I`d say give the old ear a try before depending on a written out part.
