I have jus' started learning the guitar on my own,i mean ,i dont have any teacher.I jus bought a guitar second-hand and a book teaching pop and another, classical.first of all, do you think i am able to go on without having a teacher?what is more, when we want to play a piece of music that has no instruction about the fingers we use, should we use the index, middle and ring finger for third, second and first string respectively? what i mean is that sometimes it seems easier to use the index finger ,for example, for the second string as well as the third (& i am used to doing so!)rather than index 4 third, middle 4 second.do you think it's wrong?
thanks
Sometimes it is easier to use a diffrent finger then they show you in the books or instructions. however I would'nt recomend it, coz there is a reason they tell you to use a certian finger. Mainly coz when going from one chord to the next you'r fingering is very important, If you dont use the right finger it makes it hard to switch, and then you'll have to re learn the chord and belive me it's harder to re-learn then it is to just learn it the right way in the beginning! just remember it gets easier as you go on to learn new chords coz your fingers get caluses, also the more you learn-the faster you learn! I call it the snowball efect. Do exersizes up 'n'down the neck to keep your fingers limber,it realy helps! GOD Bless'n' keep at it you can only get better!
Make sure switching from chord to chord isnt messed up by the finger you use! Practice switching from chord to chord so the flow becomes easy. Get a chord chart that showes you where your fingers go,then you can just look it up before you learn a song. Hope this helps.......Play every day thats important too, to keep limber! keep it fun and dont give up! the more you play the,the more youll be able to play! If you get fustrated stop for a moment then go right back to it, all of a sudden it will just click....and there it is your in the flow zone!!! Greatness is just around the corner you just cant see it coz its around the bend!!! GOD Bless! (Pray befor you Play) youll notice the diffrence!
The general rule of thumb when playing guitar (see the pun), is you have a finger to each fret. For example if your pointer finger is on the first fret it plays all the strings on the first fret. Then your middle finger plays any notes on the second fret, index on the third, and pinky for the forth. You will need to switch your fingering throughout a song, but you generally want each finger to cover a certain fret. Do not by pass the pinky! You will need it later so the sooner you build its strength and train it the better.
Well you have 6 strings and 4 fingers to play with. You don't want a finger for each string, it is too confusing. I would go by the book, once you get better you can go astray a bit, but right now I think that they know better than you. Thats why they wrote it that way.
No, I haven't. Your not supposed to use your thumb for fretting, it makes you go really slow. If your talking about your stumming hand then yes, I always use it when is don't play with a pick.
I love to play like that coz it gives it a jazzy sound and you can mix in some lead, kinda like (Classicial)arr,arr:0),Of course im not a Classical Guitarist! But I love playing all kinds of chords and alternets!I just love to play !Mostly do my own stuff on guitar. For the last 5 years Ive been a Bass Player!;O GOD Bless!
