Why hello!

Can anybody tell me how to play with four mallets? And any good techniques/warm-ups??

I'm doing Yellow After the Rain by Mitchell Peters for my school's solo festival, and I've never played with four mallets before (yeah, stupid, right?) so I just want to know a few things before I delve into it.

This piece is usually the first four mallet solo for beginners. One of the challenging parts in this piece is the left hand at (A) and the right hand at (B). Make sure you perfect those hands with the 1, &, 1 2 3 parts. Also, at (E), let your mallets flow in a fluid rhythm; do NOT tense up at this part. It will throw your rhythm off completely.
Lastly, on the final page (page 6, I believe), start off by playing this as SLOW as possible. I cannot tell you how many students I've seen play the entire piece flawlessly, and then on the final page, tear the whole thing to shreds. The last page is the most challenging part.
I suggest playing scales with the inside mallets, and making sure that your outside ones aren't wobbling. This a common problem that turns into a nasty habit, and will hurt you in the long run. Good luck!
