hey, I searched the internet wide and low, and I came upon this site, so I thought I would ask for help. In 6 months, I am going to be trying out for quads for my schools drumline. I have some minor experience with playing drums, I played a little for middle school but I do have experience with percussion. I can read music, just I need some tips on playing quads. I have plenty of time till tryouts, so, any tips for playing quads?

HEY! i had the same prob when i played snare. do wrist excercises and when you practice try just quarter notes at first only practice w/o moving ur arm start slow then speed up when u get the hang of it. good luck and careful theyre heavy as F***! and hey good job for going 4 it. quads dont get as much recognition as they should.

hey right on for playing quads, i dont know if you still need any help but one of the best things you can do is play accent taps
if you dont know they are just eigth notes with accents in different places
play eight on a hand putting accents on the first third and seventh notes and then switch hands. this should all be done marcatto as shi* so it will burn.
another good thing is to play double beat excercises keeping full grip on the sticks, eventually youll hae to move your arms because theres no release with your fingers.
ive played quads for 2 years and im probably going for corps so i know whats up. they are definitely the hardest and most badass drums on the line..... good luck
