There are some great snare drum books for solo material. Just a few include Rudimental Swing Solos by Wilcoxon, Portaits in Rhythm by Cyrone, and Contemporary Studies for Snare Drum by Albright. I studied with Joe Morello for 7 years, have written articles for Modern Drummer, and have a Master`s Degree from Juilliard. See my website at www.samrdrummer.com

yo roger...im a freshman on the snare line right now, look for a book called alfred`s drum method book 1...then go to book two, then start looking at solo`s such as "the winner",it`s tough so maybe try writing your own of the stuff that you know..i have written two solo`s so far and they have turned out awesome..one good enough Lions Band...just keep all of that in mind and keep drummin..later

yeah man...all us freshies rock on snare yo??? and no..pit doesn`t suck,we couldn`t do it without `em right guys? we could but it wouldn`t be as interesting. Also, Roger...look for a couple of books such as the "rudimental cook book" it`s a pretty good one...get advanced and look into solos like "tornado" and "crash landing" hehe think your really tough??? give "Africa Hot" a try
