Not quite sure, but I know Bass sax is lower than Bari, and probably in a different key.

so first of, yes, they are in different keys. The bari being in Eb and the bass being in Bb. The bass sounds an octave lower than the tenor, bu it is usually written two octaves higher than it sounds(so it stays in check with other instruments, otherwise it would be way to low.) There are two types of bass saxes, the european and the american. The differences are in the way the neck is positioned. There is a sax lower than the bass sax, the contrabass in Eb, which is almost 7 feet tall.

I have seen two picures of a "sub-contrabass", but it was never actually created. You can see the pictures at www.contrabass.com. Click on the compendium.

The bass sax almost sounds like a tuba and bari sax you can listen to it and the contrabass sax on a nuclear whales cd.

the sub -contra bass has been around a long time. the tubax is a new version that uses a bari mouth piece. if you want to here a contra-bass sax and or see one check out the nucler whales web-site . they are still made by a company in italy. cost is around $50.000. t.t.f.n.
