thats some nice saxes out there...

because no one seems to know... they stopped making selmer mark vi's in the 70's. They have alot of consistansty (spelling) problems, but the good ones are debated to be the best saxes ever made, and the "bad" ones are still darn good. granted opinion is opinion, I played a mark vi for awile and personly loved it to death. They make new refernce 54's and 36's (for tenors) and they are amazing horns; I almost purchased one but my current alto won out, only because the selmer I was looking at had a few factory problems with it; with some work it'd be even more amazing then it already was, but the truth is for a sax that level and price, it shouldn't have those problems with it. Thus selmers infamous consistansty (spelling) problem.

heres what I play,

Keilwerth shadow alto (AMAZING!!!), it should be noted that this sax, while it won out over the refernce54 for ME, is not better per say, it has a different tone (nickle silver body as opposed to brass, it has a real clear peircing tone, but the reference had a real vintage jazzy tone to it, I just loved it ), and I liked both saxes for different reasons... I play either a morgan exaluber or a pomarico crystal, or the good ol' selmer C* on it. I have a million different mouthpieces though.

bundy alto (marching
king alto (fall back marching)

woulitzer (stencil horn, a good one though) curved soprano (40's vintage)

selmer new york (another stencil, good one though) C-melody (vintage 20's)

I also periodicaly borrow tenors and baris, and own 2 or 3 tenor mouthpieces, most notably an older ottolink (it's pretty awesome)
