i love jazz, so then my teacher gave me a chance to be in the Blues'n'Jazz Band. She said i should play the BARITONE SAXAPHONE.
And yes I know its hard to play. At least I think it is. She did say that I'll start off playing the Alto Sax. Actually tomorrow morning.
And with the support of my friends that play saxaphones, they told me that i'd be HOPLESS at it coz flute is way diff. from the sax.
(Tnx 4 da suppport guys)

You think a flute player would be good at playing the Bari Sax too?

Welcome aboard,
Honestly you will be far ahead of your saxophonist friends. Truth is if you play Jazz/Blues you will not go very far without being able to double on Flute and Clarinet. Actually the sax will be easy for you, as you can already read music, and the fingerings between sax and flute are very similar. Also, saxophone is one of the easiest instruments to learn to play (thank you Adolf Sax), but it is one of the hardest to master and sound good. My favorite line about saxophone is that "it is the eaisest instrument to play...badly", so make sure you work with a tuner when you play. Bari is going to take alot of air support, so work on you breathing. Other than that will be fine. If you have any problems feel free to ask, and good luck.

Don't worry about it! I play the flute, and just started playing the alto two weeks ago. I love it! It's really easy to transition over to the sax, almost all the fingerings are the same. I'm borrowing a tenor, which is a little more difficult than an alto, but I like the sound better. Haven't tried a bari yet, but I bet it's fun, haha. Good luck!
