I use Vandoren JAVA 2.5 They`re too light for my old horns but they work great on my Keilwerth. I also have a BARI plastic (clear) reed. You don`t have to warm it up and it`s good in a pinch. Not nearly as smooth as the traditional wood though.

Now that i`m a voice major though, The only Saxin` I get is for the marching band, so that has an impact on my equipment of course.

I`ve herd about those clear ones, aren`t they made of plactic or something. I herd they don`t have nice sound like the wood ones.

I have been experimenting for jazz purposes and right now I am using vandoren V16 size 3.5. I have tried Henke`s which are pretty cool, Rico which is a piece of crap, and a couple other ones. My next two steps are to try plastic and try unfiled and filing them down myself. My theory is then your filling won`t be perfect and then you will get a more laid back, vibrating sound. I don`t know though.

I use fibracells. They are the best reed I`ve ever played. I used to go and try all the reeds. I stuck with fibracells. They take some time getting used to, but it`s worth it.
