Hi was wondering if somebody could help me choose the right sax. I'm looking at the selmer paris model 62 and the selmer reference 54. I know some of the things that each sax is good at but i would like some more info on them considering there's not really much info on the internet about them. Please help me and Thanks a bunch

I play mostly classical and some jazz right now but in a few years I hope to play mostly jazz.

Check out your other options like the Yamaha custom Z and the Yanagisawa 991 series. I like these horns better than the new line of Selmers, but I do like the vintage selmers for their sound quality.

Yeah i tried out a Yani A991 and it was good i liked the key work but I wasn't crazy about the tone, plus my band directors wan't me to get a Selmer, or a Yani so the Yamaha is kind of out of the question.

I think I've tested out a Selmer 62 when I was looking for a new saxophone (I ended up getting the Yamaha YAS-62, in case you're wondering how that turned out). They're pretty nice; I really like the sound. Why don't you check at your local instuments store and see which is better and (if possible) see if you can test some of the available saxes out?? That's what I did.
Good luck finding one!!
P.S. What brand of saxophone have you played before?? Look at that brand, but find an "upgraded" model one that's more your speed).
