No, it will just make you a better player and you will be more in demand for being able to double.

Clarinet and Sax are very similar since they both use reeds you position almost the same way and you use almost the same embochure.

The information you've received thusfar has not been entirely accurate. Learning any other instrument absolutely will affect your clarinet playing. How much will depend on what instrument(s) you start picking up. If you're intent on doubling, saxophone would be a better choice than trombone, but picking up either will mean a large increase in practice time simply to keep up with both. The embouchures are slightly different (saxophone being slightly more relaxed than clarinet), and trombone clearly employs a much different embouchure, so you will also need time to learn to control your playing on either, and to learn to go back and forth from one to the other. I would recommend getting some more experience on clarinet before you try to double.

Flutist is right playing the clarinet for six months and then going to sax also will mess you up, wait a year or so and try. As for trombone it is completly different from both instruments
1. You have different embochure
2. You play bass clef
3. Slide not keys or valves
4. No reed

I play clarinet, piano, and I am now picking up bari sax for jazz band! Three hours of practice every night! So much fun! I'm not being sarcastic either!

okay well a clarinet mouthpiece fits in your mouth more slanted and a sax mouthpeice should be placed in more stright.
not many people do that anymore but it helps range for me.
its easier to ajust your emouture... ack i cant spell.
anyhow... good luck
