Hello again!!

I just came back from the bassoon forum (I was wondering what it was like...) and I responded to an interesting post called "Marching Bassoon" (read it; it's quite interesting).
Anyway, I have never marched with a sax and was wondering if it is quite difficult. Our instruments are oddly shaped and I was wondering if its shape would affect one's marching.
I was also wondering if anyone has ever been impaled by their sax while marching (seriously, read the "Marching Bassoon").

Thanks!!

P.S. I made this such a formal post; it's the complete opposite of my last post ("The Great Cereal Debate").

Well alto not too much of a hassle, as you should know marching takes more than just learning your instrument, (memorization of music and positions and counting and stuff) tenor gets annoying cause of the bell, and bari is a walking metal deathtrap, i just stick to alto for marching, tenor/bari for concert band. (im still working on jazz)!

Marching with an alto is pretty easy, it takes a little to get used to but overall it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Marching with a tenor however, is slightly more difficult. Mainly because it's just bigger, and the smaller you are... Well, the more problems you have. But I countered those! I found that if I use a neck strap instead of a harness, and adjust a few other things, it's perfectly possibly to march & play at the same time.

However, when marching without playing, it's probably best to just hold the instrument in front of you. I've never marched with a baritone, but I think it's not entirely impossible?

I just started marching. I wanted to march on bari, but they made me do tenor because in our district bari's don't march.

It is a little challenging seeing as I am a rather small person..but it's not that bad.
