hey guys, ive been playing sax for a couple of yars now. We just moved and I havn't played my sax in about a month, I just picked it up and played it, but the tone seems beathy or raspy, I use a Vandoren JAVA 3 for a reed. Could it be my embouchure? Did I wet the reed too much? Did I wet the reed not enough? Listening to the other players in the band on a beginner axophone, I'm starting to think its the saxophone its self. I own a Yamaha YAS-23. Thanks,
-jake

It could be dozens of things.

If you think it might be the sax, get it checked by a reputable technician. Or get another experienced player to play-test it. Or set up a leak light and some of your own diagnosis checks.

No more diagnosis can be done without hearing/seeing it.
