Hi there!!
As protection to the teeth when blowing the sax, some uses cushion(placed on the mouthpiece). Are there really disadvantages from using it??

Well, you can get things called Bite Pads. They are much more comfortable and promote a more correct embouchure. They are also inexpensive, and you can get them at your local music store. Hope I helped out!

Whell I dont se any Disadventage from them.
The Best thing about them is I stoped chewing my mouth peace. And it gives a protection for my teeth.

so why did mine wear down quicker then other kids who have been playing longer with older mouthpieces?

I have a question, my music director told us to get bite pads so I got some....

My 1st one wore down in about a month.

I'm in marching band don't know if that would affect it.

thank you

It might be that you are in marching band that affected the bite pad, since in marching band you grip you'r mouthpiece harder while your moving.
