So, in band were playing this song and I have a solo with of course low notes, but lately I haven't been able to play them softly. The note keeps going up an octave, what should I do? My band director is no help because knows nothiung bout' saxophones. HELP! Do I need harder reeds, i play on mediums, but thats all our band director will get us.

It can be Reeds,Embroshure(SP?), or leaks.

If they were OK in the past, it's likely your horn is out of adjustment. Take it to a good repairman. Low notes on bari's are prone to this problem, (long rods).
