So I took my first lesson and all they taught me was the scale. But I looked in my bok and the first exercise is playing 4 quarter notes in a row and all of the notes are a C, i don`t understand how to play them. Do I stop blowing between each induvidual note, or do I release the keys?

Actually you tongue, I don`t know if you have learned that yet but you tap your tongue against the reed to stop the note and ltake you tongue off and it starts again, it is really hard at first but with a lot of practice it just comes naturally. I hope I could help, if you have any more questions just ask.

Most teachers start with scales as that is what most school solo events, colleges, testing, etc. ask for. As for the blowing thing....I tell all my students to think TAH TAH TAH when tonguing each note and to try to keep their breath moving between each Tah. It`s harder then it sounds and takes lots of practice but eventually will come.

You could just simply,to start with, stop blowing between each note when you hit the reed with your tounge. It is actually quite difficult not to stop blowing.
