I've heard people talking about falsetto, but I don't really know what it is....I thought it was only for male voices, but I heard a female saying she went into falsetto, so now I'm unsure...
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Love Laura

I'm not an expert, so I don't know for a fact that ladies can/can't go into falsetto, but I imagine they can. It seems like I have heard people, or done it myself, sing in falsetto. Basically it's like you can "sing" the note, however the note is usually rather quiet and it's a strain to be able to make any noise at all. Blast...I'm not very good at explaining, sorry~~!

My Dictionary of Music says this:
falsetto: A method used by male singers to extend their vocal above the normal vocal range.

Men are the only ones that have falsetto. Women just have breaks where they go from their lower to higher notes. As a side note, to yodel guys just need to find where the highest note they can sing and then go to falsetto. Women need to find their break and then sing. It's easy for men, but really difficult for women.
