every time i hear myself sing such as from a camera or from the computer recording thing i sound like im singing through my nose. when i hear myself singing without the aid of any recording device it sounds fine. why and how do i fix it and is that what i really sound like?

to prevent the nasal sound open your mouth wider

It's all cognitive science, so opening your mouth does not help.
