Hi everyone,

I'd like to ask for some advice please regarding an overactive pharyngeal reflex, or gag reflex as it's commonly known.

I've been singing for a few years and am generally happy with my performance. Obviously, there's room for improvement all round but I think that my general technique is fairly standard i.e. I don't think I'm doing anything in particular to bring this condition on.

I find, when attempting notes at the very top of my range that I begin to choke and feel like being sick. I'm pretty certain that this is mostly psychological and concentrating on it makes it worse.

Has anyone else encountered or suffered from this?

Thanks a lot for reading!

All the best.
