yeah, a high C`s fine, if you`ve warmed up properly and are singing properly. Im a collortura soprano, and that part of the voice is called the flute voice! The first song i learnt was Der Holle Rache.. The queen of the night aria, its hard and high...one of the highest pieces ever I think! But believe me, it was too ambitious a piece for a 13 year old even If i have been learning bel canto for almost 14 yrs and singing for almost 16..a lot for someone whos nearly 18!!

Yeah...
Did your teacher assign you Queen of the Night? ...Usually teachers don`t ask young students to do that aria, although I`ve heard professional 14-year-old girls do it (friends of mine).

Yeah, my mum, who also sings opera, was saying that shed love to hear me sing it, then one day, randomly, my teacher was tecahing me the cadenzas and the rhythm patterns and there we go? however it never sounded as good as it did when I was warmed up by my teacher....thats always the way!

haha, yup.

Do you warmup when you practice? How long a warmup do you do?
...Have you learned to warm yourself up (e.g., has your teacher taught you some warmups and vocalises to do)?

Yes, I can sing a tenor high C (C5) as well as the soprano high C (C6)..however I used mixed registration (chest/head) for the C5 and falsetto for C6...FYI I am an operatic lyric tenor..21 yr old vocal performance major at Charleston Southern University, a rising senior

I found out that I can hit a high C once in awhile. it`s the last note of "Phantom of the Opera" right? If that`s it I can hit it but it sounds a little strained.

I can hit it. I`m an alto but my choir director said that I have a good range. It really isn`t that hard if I like belt it out. Usually I never sing it though because I don`t like to sing alone when people are around unless I am like doing a solo for school or something. But yeah.

basically all u need to do is get a momentum so u can really belt out a c. drink lots of water with lemon juice in it. that keeps yur voice nice and smooth for when u sing. and when u sing it take a deep breathe and then it really doesn`t matter if it scrachy becasue once u start perfecting it, it will even out sooner than later!

good luck
