i am a student and i have to compose a song with piano chords about those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Can any one help with chord patterns etc???

How about using some chromatic harmonies or dissonant sounds to symbolize their struggle through life? Don't use dissonances that are too disturbing though coz you want people to feel sympathetic to the less-privaleged people. Some dissonant and minor chords could be really effective. Play around with them on the piano- that's what i usually do. I play around with harmonies until i get the effect i want.
