Hi,
This is the first time I have ever posted on this space.
I work for an afterschool program for kids in the Tenderloin in SF. They are under priveledged for the most part, and the program is a free non profit deal..
Someone donated a cheap keyboard. It sounds like a fire alarm with a few different notes on it, but I got the batts and gave it to the kids. I taught them the Star Wars Riff, and I looked up the Simpsons riff on this forum. Thing is, I can't get any further in music cause I don't know it.
I wrote the notes on the keys in a sharpie, and gave the kids... (sing along now) c g f e d (higher) c g f e d etc etc..
they recognize it, and THAT is the forum I would like you to help a brother out with.
I have researched the web, and they just don't really post riffs in that forum, it's all sheet music. I love and respect musicians and am in awe of the ability to play and read music, but I just aint got it.
So If you could shoot me a riff that you think elementary school kids would like to learn, you might just be helping out the next gen find music. Or, maybe you know a site that gives riffs in letter format...
THANKS! You rule.

Hey, I know I'm four months after the fact, but if you're still looking for some riffs, I'm loaded with them. If you find these helpful and want more, just ask.

(lower case means lower in relation; upper case means higher in relation. ie: b B = a "B" followed by a "B" an octave higher. D a = a "D" followed by an "A" 5 half-steps down)

Wild Cherry's "Funky Music"
a a A g A d E G A

"Row Row Row Your Boat"
c c c D E E D E F G C C g g e e c G f e d c

Usher "Yeah"
g D g Eb g Eb g D
