So, my dad is a janitor at the local middle school, and the band director was going to throw out a bunch of used instruments. My dad took them when he asked if he could take them, and he gave them to me...Well, I found a wooden Selmer Signature clarinet, and I was wondering if that is a good brand or not. Because I want to get it fixed, but I don`t want to waste my money if it`s a bad kind of clarinet...Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Have you brought it to a tech for evalulation to see if it`s worth saving? (cracks, etc.) The Signature is one of the Selmer Paris professional models. I`ve only heard it few times on a recording. I personally like its sound, but that`s just me.
Maybe it`s possible you can find some who is familiar with Selmer clarinets?

Who in the world would throw out a $3,000 instrument?
What student would mistreat such an instrument and a band director allow that to happen? :0

It`s in good condition, it just needs some pads, and it has like one or two cracks in it, but they have been fixed.

Yeah, I have no idea why someone would throw it away.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that it`s a Selmer Signature Special instead of a just a Selmer Signature, I don`t know if that makes a difference or not.

Thanks for your input!

Could this be a Selmer Signet Special you are talking about? I have that clarinet, it is an wood intermediate instrument. I found it to be a nice step up from my plastic Buffet, but it`s the first wood instrument I tried.

If this is a Signet Special, it`s a Selmer USA clarinet.

Yeah, I guess it is a Signet, not Signature. Thank you for your help!
