Getting Braces off two weeks before region...

Hello, I`ve been really working hard for region band, and, according to my private lessons teacher, I have a chance to make area as a freshman. I would be thrilled if that happened, but I was just informed that I`m getting my braces taken off two weeks before region. Is this a wise thing to do? Will my embrochure be fine within two weeks, and will my tone be as good as it is now? Thanks for the help.

It`s been a long time since I had braces, but any change of that sort soon before a major performance is not a good idea. If it were me, I`d wait, if at all possible. Unless you think that the braces are getting in the way, but as I recall, they did not for me.
