Scary high notes

I`m not a bassoonist, but I`m wondering; can any of the bassoonists here produce those really high notes? I ran across a bassoon fingering chart that went to the Csharp above the treble clef

the higest note i can play is an E (reed alowing)
but my teacher can go higher then that i dont find them very pretty notes

highest not i can play is the A near the bottom of them treble clef... ¬_¬... damn lol. i can`t blow that hard and the firgerings are confusing...

i actually think the high notes sound nice. really forced and weak sounding, but beautiful at the same time. like the opening theme to the rite of spring, that`s a good example... the sound is so weak but something amazing at the same time.

i the highest note i can play is the 4th octave E

^WTF! HOLY CRAP! HAHAHA... soo good. damn i need to get off the clarinet and back onto the bassoon... i played the bassoon again for the first time in 2 weeks, my technique sucked ass! hahaha...

wait, 4th octave e as in, when u write it on paper it looks like: e4? i can`t even play that on the clarinet... or the 4th octave of the bassoon? (one octave lower than e4)

A problem is the way people reffer to notes. I know of two systems. One starts from the lowest C of the piano ( C1 ) and counts up from there. That makes C4 middle C and E4 the E just above that.
Another system, is to write middle C as c` the Cs above that having more apostraphies attatched and the lower notes turning into capital letters and then into many capital letters... often people don`t use the apostraphies but use numbers, making middle C c1 the c above that c2 ect. That would make e4 a note extremely high, in upper area of the piccolo`s range and just barely possible for the violin.

If he means E4 in the first sense, that means he can play to the E just above middle C. That`s possible.
In the second way of reffering to notes, well, that`s probably impossible on bassoon. That e would be just too high, the c an tenth below it is I think the highest note ever played on a bassoon ( anyone can correct me if I`m wrong ).
But... he might mean the fourth octave e as measured from the lowest normal note on the bassoon ( Bb ). That would be the e in the middle of the treble clef, the highest note of most players. Only a few peices go higher than that ( Berg`s Lulu and a bassoon solo peice which I can`t remember the name of ).

in the system i know, the lowest note on a bassoon is called

B1 (well, Bb1 or A1 if you`re that picky)

then the octaves go up like: B1, b, b1, b2, b3, b4

and go down like: b, B1, B2

each octave ends at B, so it`s like c1, d1, e1... a1, b1, c2

is there a name to this system? it`d be easier to just tell ppl what systemi`m talking about but it`s the system in my book and there`s no name for it in here... lol

All I kno is that one system is based on the pipe organ, one on the piano. I can`t seem to find anything on the internet about this. It can be very confusing, I`ve seen a soprano claiming to sing to c6... possible with one notation, silly with another!

there are higher notes on the bassoon but you dont usually need to play them i think its just a thing that crazy good bassooist like to do in there spare time (find new fingerins for higer and higher notes)

oh, so basically, that E near the top of the treble clef, like umm, on the first space going down?

yea, i can`t play that. haha.
