Is the weight of the Bassoon close to that of a Bass Clarinet?

weight is a non issue. you support the bassoon on a seat strap or shoulder strap.

Actually I have been playing my Bass Clarinet without a neck strap for two years. I used to find the neck strap an inconvenience but I`m compensating for that.
Is the Bassoon hard to hold without a neck strap while standing up?

The bassoon certainly can be played standing up. You would have to have a neck strap or harness.
