How long have you been playing?

This is just a casual post, but I'm rather curious. How long have you been playing the bassoon?

I'm only a dodgy high schooler who lives in a town of about 20,000 people (mining town) and I've been teaching myself for about 2years. I love it!

Are many of you people other high schoolers or more experienced players?

High-schooler, but Im well beyon that, not just in music, but especially so. Bassoons notmy main instrument, though it may soon be. Only been playing it for 1 year. I live ina semirural 32000 pop. town in Ontario, an its nearly impossible to find bassoon stuff nearby.

I played the bassoon for about 3 years in high school. I graduated in 2002 and haven't touched one since then. I loved it. I don't know how much you really care, but seeing your post made me look back to when i first started and how much I loved it. I miss it so much. I have been looking in places like ebay to see about buying one at a fairly good price. Do your best to keep playing as long as you can. The bassoon is an amazing instrument! Good luck!

I just started at the beginning of January on Bassoon, but my director has put the faith in me to be playing advanced and medium advanced music (on the JW Pepper scale). Oh yes, I'm a Hish School Freshman and the local music store isn't that great but the Kennelly Keys which is 30 minutes south is just wonderful.

I live in a boring town in Surrey, UK and I'm in year 11 (10th grade). I've been playing for nearly 4 years with a fantastic teacher. Unusually we have 5 bassoonists at our school and have formed a quintet called Faggotizm. I recently passed my grade 8 (ABRSM) with distinction and hopefully I'll start work on my diploma in September. I love playing the bassoon because it has a huge personality and in orchestra there are actually quite a few interesting parts and tenor solos - I love them!

8 years already.

However, lack of practice. just passed ABRSM Grade 7.

i live in Adelaide , South Australia . Im the only bassoonist i know. ive been playing setiously for about 2 years now, my teacher is ok, but im getting a much better one in 3 weeks. im in grade 11 and ive got my (AMEB) grade 4 certificate and want to go for my grade five...
