Need upgrade advice

I am shopping for an upgrade for my daughter. She has long outgrown her Fox 222D and, as a senior music performance major, is looking for a reasonable professional-level instrument along the lines of a Fox 101 or 201. I’ve been looking at ebay (THAT is scary!) and there are so many instruments out there, it is hard to even know what to look for! I understand that so much depends on age, wear, individual construction, etc - but can anyone offer some advice on some near-professional instrument possibilities?

I think if she is that advanced in her musical training, you might want to look at a professional instrument. My favorite is the B.H. Bell Bassoons, but they are 34 grand, so maybe not a B.H. BellXD

That is a tall order, because of the variables you have mentioned. Doesn't your daughter have any ideas? She, being a long-time music student, will probably have some dislikes and likes. Having said that, the Moosmans, Puchners, Schreibers, are always good bets, depending on condition. You can probably look up most professional bassoonists and see what instruments they play, and find every bassoon make there is among them (almost). I've seen them play Adlers, Hullers, you name it. Of course, Heckel is the creme de la creme but that comes at a price.

Not sure how my last note got posted twice, but anyway, how about just upgrading her Fox model? The upper models are great bassoons.
