Contrabassoon

Hi bassoon member,

Im Martyn Booth, from England. I`m play bassoon for 3 year now. Im advance student.

I wonder if you say not agree or agree with me is Can I learn Contrabassoon? Do you Contrabassoon difficult for me?

I have played contra, it is HEAPS of fun, especically in orchestra, and Romeo and Juliet ahh memories, anyway
Its a fantastic instrument which will put up your lung capacity 10x, the low notes sound awesome, and yeah, go for it! the price is somewhat off putting though, and its SO HEAVY.
But its heaps of fun blowing out this REEEAALLLYY low note and everyone looking around

The most important thing is that there is a music authority/ service nearby that owns a contra. Fortunately, i am near such a music service, and now play it in the bands and orchestras. On the plus sides, it gets you into loads of bands that you may otherwise not get into. however, on the down side, it is very heavy, people always want to fiddle and touch it, and because it is so lumpy, you are always the last to get away from band rehersal. however you do not get as nice tone as you would normally from a bassoon, and the keys rattle a hell of a load.

I don`t own anything, but I want to say something anyway. You could buy your own contrabassoon if you have the 20,000 for it. And if you don`t you could finance it like a car or boat or house. I have never heard of anyone owning there own contra though. My old bssoon teacher played one, but it was owned by the orchestra. But if you [/b really] want one, you probably could buy it if you don`t need to put a new engine into your Jag.
