Hey, i`ve been playing the trumpet for about 5 years, and i`m having trouble hitting a high B i mean it`s there but it`s note exactly something you would want to listen to, i`ve been told to use my diaphram to help release pressure but using while using it i run out of air and start putting pressure to my neck and lips any advice?

Do you mean B below the C that is an octave above tuning C?

I have been playing for about 7 years now and the one of the things that has helped me are pedal tones. The lower your register and the more loose your lips are the easier to hit higher notes it will be. I used to play to an F on the staff and now after all the pedal tone exersices I can play Double C with no problem.

yeah i`ve heard about the pedal tone before a few people i know use it, and the B i`m refering to is the one in the same octive as the G that is touching the top of the staff i think we`re talking about the same thing but i`m not completely sure.

pedal tones are a good thing to do to help out your upper register..

One thing to be careful of when practicing them.. You must use the same emboucher setting for the pedal tones as for your upper regester and your middle register. Dont do anything different or it will defeat the purpose of the excersise.

Also if you have a private teacher have him/her help you out.

Furthermore.

Tension in the neck and mouthpiece pressure can destroy range. Work to eliminate both of these.

Hi, I`ve been playing for about 5 years too. Low tone exercizes help but you have to keep playing up there. Something that helped me that might help you: I get a deep concert mouthpeice(about a 1 1/2c) and now i can hit high D on a 3c. play on a trombone mouthpiece too.
